When to Use

Use this method when you need to explore how AI can address specific service challenges and generate innovative solutions. It's particularly useful when a team needs to understand the potential impact of AI on both front-end and back-end processes.

How It Works

Solves: Lack of innovative ideas for service improvement; difficulty understanding how AI can be practically applied to solve service problems.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to facilitate this method
  1. 1

Step 1: Introduce the AI Landscape Mapping activity and explain its purpose. (5 minutes)

  2. 2

Step 2: Briefly describe the current state of the service, including key actors and interactions. Focus on both front-end and back-end processes. (15 minutes)

  3. 3

Step 3: Identify and document problems associated with each phase of the service value chain, as well as areas for potential improvement. (20 minutes)

  4. 4

Step 4: Brainstorm AI-related solutions for the identified problems, using the AI Functionalities Cards for inspiration. Consider automation, assistance, and augmentation. (40 minutes)

  5. 5

Step 5: Review all generated opportunities, filter, and prioritize the most promising ones for further concept definition and evaluation. (20 minutes)

Facilitator Tips
  • Encourage participants to think broadly and creatively about potential AI applications.
  • Ensure a mix of perspectives, including those with service knowledge and technical expertise.
Variations
  • Focus the mapping on a specific part of the service value chain.
  • Use different sets of technology cards to explore other emerging technologies.
