5-60 min5-15 peopleMedium
When to Use
To transform passive meeting attendees into active contributors with clear responsibilities.
How It Works
Solves: Meeting fatigue, lack of notes, or conversations going off-track.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to facilitate this method
- 1
Step 1: At the start of the meeting, define 4-5 'Champion' roles (e.g., Cheerleader, Scribe, Mover & Shaker) (2 min).
- 2
Step 2: Ask for volunteers or assign roles to different team members (2 min).
- 3
Step 3: Conduct the meeting as usual, with the Champions performing their duties (e.g., the Mover & Shaker interrupts if the group gets stuck) (Ongoing).
- 4
Step 4: Briefly thank the champions at the end of the call (1 min).
Facilitator Tips
- Rotate roles every meeting so the same person isn't always the Scribe.
- Use the 'Shade Thrower' role only in high-trust teams to keep it lighthearted.
Variations
- Themed roles based on a current project or popular culture (e.g., Avengers-themed roles).
