Deep Work Day
A protected block in which each person integrates the feedback and finishes their own deliverable, in silence, in the same room. Ownership comes from finishing it yourself, not from a workshop finishing it for you.
Use after feedback has been gathered and before a plan is presented, when the remaining work is individual, not collective.
Solves: Plans that were workshopped but never finished by their owner do not survive contact with the organisation.
- 1
Step 1: Agree what 'done' means for each person's artefact. Write it down (15 min).
- 2
Step 2: Phones away, notifications off, one shared room, no talking. Set the block (90-180 min).
- 3
Step 3: A single silent break in the middle. No conversation, no coffee-queue collaboration.
- 4
Step 4: Close by each person stating what is now finished and what is not (15 min).
- Protect the block ruthlessly; one interruption ends it for everybody.
- The facilitator works too. Silently. Modelling the norm is the whole intervention.
- Do not schedule it as the last item of a long day.
