Facilitator Passport
The Facilitator Passport is a self-assessment tool that helps facilitators evaluate their knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA). It encourages ownership of one's learning journey by providing a structured way to track development and identify areas for growth.
Use this method when you want individuals or teams to reflect on their facilitation abilities, identify strengths and weaknesses, and set personal development goals. It's particularly useful during onboarding, performance reviews, or team training sessions.
Solves: Lack of self-awareness regarding facilitation skills, undefined professional development goals, inconsistent facilitation quality across a team.

Step 1: (5 minutes) Individually, select an empty passport template and fill in your name, number of workshops facilitated, and areas of specialization.
- 2
Step 2: (10 minutes) Individually, complete the KSA self-assessment section of the passport, honestly evaluating your current abilities and identifying areas for improvement. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.
- 3
Step 3: (5-10 minutes per person) One by one, each participant presents their completed passport to the group, sharing their self-assessment and goals.
- 4
Step 4: (2-3 minutes per person) After each presentation, allow time for clarifying questions from other team members. Focus on understanding the individual's perspective and offering supportive feedback.
- 5
Step 5: (5 minutes) After all presentations, facilitate a group reflection on the exercise. Discuss how the passport can be used to support ongoing learning and development.
- Encourage honest self-reflection and create a safe space for sharing vulnerabilities.
- Provide examples of SMART goals to help participants set realistic and achievable targets.
- Emphasize that the passport is a tool for personal growth, not a performance evaluation.
- Use the passport as a team assessment tool, where team members provide feedback to each other on their facilitation skills.
- Incorporate the passport into a formal performance review process.
- Create a customized passport tailored to specific facilitation competencies or organizational needs.
