Geared Up
Geared Up is a dynamic circle energizer that combines physical movement, memory, and teamwork to quickly boost energy levels. Participants respond to a series of numbered commands with corresponding actions, increasing engagement and alertness.
Use this method at the start of a workshop or meeting to energize participants, promote collaboration, and stimulate quick thinking. It's particularly effective after periods of inactivity or when you need to refocus the group's attention.
Solves: Low energy levels, lack of engagement, mental fatigue
- 1
Step 1: Form two concentric circles, with participants facing their partners. (5 minutes)
- 2
Step 2: Explain and demonstrate the numbered commands (e.g., High 10, switch places, step left, spin, High 5/Low 5). (5 minutes)
- 3
Step 3: Practice each command individually, then introduce a sequence of numbers, gradually increasing the complexity. (5-10 minutes)
- 4
Step 4: Continue playing for up to 20 minutes, adjusting the pace and complexity based on the group's energy and competence.
- Start with a slower pace and simpler sequences to ensure everyone understands the commands.
- Observe the group's energy levels and adjust the complexity and duration accordingly.
- Encourage laughter and lightheartedness to create a positive and engaging atmosphere.
- Introduce new commands or actions to increase the challenge and variety.
- Incorporate a competitive element by timing the sequences or awarding points for correct responses.
- Allow participants to create their own commands and incorporate them into the game.
