Gratitude Circle
A structured closing activity where team members publicly acknowledge and thank one another for specific contributions or qualities. It reinforces positive behaviors and strengthens social bonds.
To end a session on a high emotional note and validate the hard work of individuals.
Solves: Team members feeling undervalued or invisible in a high-pressure remote environment.
- 1
Step 1: Ask everyone to take 1 minute of silence to think of one person in the meeting they want to thank.
- 2
Step 2: Open the floor for 'popcorn style' sharing: one person speaks, then the person they thanked goes next (or picks someone else).
- 3
Step 3: Ensure the gratitude is specific (e.g., 'Thank you for helping me with the spreadsheet' rather than 'Thanks for being great').
- 4
Step 4: Facilitator closes by thanking the entire group for their presence.
- If the group is shy, start by giving a very specific piece of gratitude to a participant yourself.
- Keep it brief to avoid it becoming overly sentimental or performative.
